The Rose oil is a Natural extract derived by water-steam distillation of fresh blossoms from the oil-bearing Rose - Rosa Damascena Oil, cultivated in the Rose Valley, where it has found the most suitable conditions for its growth. One kilogram of Rose oil is usually produced from 3.5 to 4 tons of rose blossoms. About 283 components are found in the composition of the Bulgarian rose oil. They are divided into two types of substances: carriers and fixatives of scent. The carriers of scent are the liquid part of the oil ? elaeoptene. The fixatives of scent are solid at room temperature and odorless but they fix the scent and make it durable ? stearoptene. Out of the numerous components of the elaeoptene the ones with rose scent are citronellol, geraniol, nerol, phenyl ethyl alcohol,Rose oxide but the typical Rose odour is formed by the presence of microelements.

Extraction:
In India during the early 1900's, virtually all rose oil was distilled on-site using direct-fire stills operated by the farmers. A suitable site would be chosen adjacent to the field and near a stream and the apparatus would be set up. Although this sounds rather primitive, the yield produced from this type of amounts to 1 kilo of oil for every 3,500 to 4,000 kilos of roses. Amazingly, this is a considerably higher figure than can be achieved by modern industrial distillation techniques!
